Omar Abdullah Advances Tourism and Power Reforms in Jammu & Kashmir

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met representatives from the tourism, travel and business sectors in Srinagar, urging stronger promotion, easier travel and better visitor experience. He described tourism as a vital driver of economic growth and jobs, and said the government would address the stakeholders' concerns in a time‑bound manner.

Abdullah also chaired a review of the Power Development Department, highlighting progress under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. Projects worth over ₹5,700 crore are under execution, with loss‑reduction works such as aerial bunched cables and transformer upgrades advancing. Billing efficiency rose from 56 % to 77 % between FY 2021‑22 and FY 2025‑26, and aggregate technical and commercial losses fell sharply. The chief minister called for continued reforms, expanded transmission, renewable integration and measures to offset reduced hydro generation during the summer.
