Omar Bravo remains in custody amid child sexual abuse investigation
Former Chivas and Mexican national team striker Omar Bravo remains in custody at the Puente Grande prison as investigations continue into allegations of child sexual abuse. Bravo was arrested in Zapopan in October 2025 following a complaint from his then-stepdaughter.
The investigation alleges that the abuse began around 2019 when the victim was approximately 10 years old. According to the case file, the suspect allegedly used threats of financial retaliation against the victim's mother to ensure silence. The allegations include multiple specific episodes of sexual abuse occurring between 2019 and 2021.
Former teammate and goalkeeper Oswaldo Sánchez has publicly expressed support for Bravo, stating, “For me he is innocent,” and noting that he never observed any unusual behavior during their time playing together. Bravo’s legal team recently faced a setback in June after losing an amparo lawsuit, resulting in the continuation of his pretrial detention.
