Omar Espinoza Acosta Found Dead After River Slip Near Ringold, Washington

A 29‑year‑old fisherman, identified as Omar Espinoza Acosta, went missing on July 22 while fishing on the Pasco side of the Columbia River near the Ringold boat launch. Witnesses said he slipped while attempting to cross an irrigation canal, and the fast‑moving current pulled him under. Search teams from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, River Rescue and local volunteers scoured several miles of shoreline.

Early on Sunday, a Columbia Cup rescue patrol boat spotted a body floating near the west end of the hydro‑course. The body was recovered near Wade Park islands in West Pasco and later confirmed to be Acosta. His remains are now in the custody of the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
