Omar García Harfuch reports La Barredora criminal group is divided
Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch announced that the criminal organization La Barredora, based in Tabasco, has been significantly weakened and is now divided into two primary factions. These groups are reportedly led by individuals known as ‘El Prada’ and ‘La Mosca’. The fragmentation follows several strategic arrests, including that of Ulises Pinto Madera, a high-ranking member formerly linked to the security apparatus of former Tabasco official Hernán Bermúdez Requena.
In a separate development regarding national security oversight, parliamentary coordinators held an informal meeting with García Harfuch to discuss crime and insecurity in various regions, including Michoacán and the northern states. Ricardo Monreal Ávila, president of the Coordination Board, described the meeting as productive and frank, noting that it serves as a preliminary dialogue ahead of the Secretary's formal appearance before the Chamber of Deputies scheduled for October 8.
