OMBOLD street football championships to be held in Vordingborg
The Open Zealand Street Football Championships will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the DGI House artificial turf pitch in Vordingborg. The event, organized by OMBOLD, is expected to host approximately 200 players from 30 teams across Denmark.
The tournament is specifically designed for adults in vulnerable life situations, including those experiencing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges who often fall outside traditional sports associations. Participants engage primarily as teammates and competitors to foster community and social connection.
Rasmus Evind, chairman of Vordingborg Municipality’s committee for culture, sports, and associations, will officially open the championships. The schedule includes a show match at noon where members of the Vordingborg City Council will play against the local OMBOLD team, which trains weekly in collaboration with Vordingborg IF. The day will conclude with finals and a medal ceremony starting at 3:30 PM.
