Ombudsman accused of failing to act on war crimes discrimination complaint

The Radić Law Office has announced that the Ombudsman for Protection of Equality failed to act within the legal 90-day timeframe regarding a complaint filed by the citizen association ‘Jadovno 1941’ from Banja Luka.

The complaint was directed against the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes. According to the law office, the Ombudsman's office initially claimed they had not received the complaint, but later stated they ‘found’ it in their computer system despite it not being officially registered or assigned a number.

The association filed the complaint alleging discrimination, claiming the Prosecutor's Office has exclusively prosecuted Serbs accused of crimes against Bosniaks since its establishment in 1991. The group argues this selective prosecution has led to the ‘satanization’ of Serbs and false accusations of genocide, noting that crimes against the Serbian population in the Srebrenica area have not been processed.
