Ombudsman RI Chairman Nuzran Joher begins term with prison oversight focus

Nuzran Joher has officially assumed leadership as the Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia following his inauguration before President Prabowo Subianto. The appointment, alongside member Radian Syam, completes the nine-person leadership formation of the public service oversight body.

In his new role, Joher is prioritizing the submission of written recommendations to the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services regarding findings from a field inspection at the Cibinong Class IIA Prison in West Java. The Ombudsman is also conducting independent investigations into the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal program and addressing issues related to sexual violence in various regions.
