Omdia forecasts global recorded‑music sales to reach $56.8 bn by 2030

Research firm Omdia projects that worldwide recorded‑music retail revenue will grow from $48.3 bn in 2026 to over $50 bn in 2027 and $56.8 bn by 2030. The increase is driven chiefly by streaming subscriptions, which are expected to rise 7.2% this year to $30.5 bn and reach $37 bn in 2030. Physical‑format sales will continue to grow modestly, at an annual rate of about 1.9% by 2030, reaching $8.3 bn, while combined audio‑and‑video advertising revenue is forecast to climb to $6.2 bn.

China’s share of the market is set to expand, moving from 5.8% in 2025 to 8.7% by 2030 and overtaking the UK in 2028 and Japan in 2029 to become the second‑largest market behind the United States, whose share is projected to fall slightly from 40.3% in 2025 to 38.4% in 2030.
