Omealca security operation leaves two federal agents dead

Two federal agents were killed and a female police officer was wounded during a security operation in the municipality of Omealca, Veracruz. The attack occurred near the town of Paso Amapa while agents were working to dismantle criminal cells involved in kidnapping and extortion.

Following the incident, a joint operation involving the National Defense, Navy, National Guard, and security forces from Veracruz and Oaxaca was launched. Authorities located two vehicles linked to the aggression containing evidence tied to kidnapping and extortion groups. During the operation, two individuals who were being held captive were successfully rescued and reported to be in good health.

Omar García Harfuch, the Secretary of Security and Protection Citizen, expressed condolences to the families of the fallen agents and vowed that the crime would not go unpunished.
