OMERS names Adam Buzanis head of private equity funds program

Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) has appointed Adam Buzanis as Managing Director, Head of Funds for its private equity division. Buzanis, who joins from the CAAT Pension Plan where he led private markets, will oversee the development of OMERS' external private‑equity funds strategy, expanding co‑investment programmes and relationships with third‑party managers. He will begin the role on 3 August and report to Michael Block, who oversees private‑capital investments at OMERS.

The hire follows a broader reshaping of OMERS' private‑equity platform, including a shift away from direct buyouts in Europe toward fund investments and partnerships, recent promotions such as Michael Hill to global head of infrastructure and private equity, and the departure of former chief investment officer Ralph Berg. OMERS said the appointment reflects the growing importance of a diversified, globally connected private‑equity business.

Key quote from OMERS: “Building a leading Private Equity platform requires multiple ways to access opportunity. We look forward to the perspective and expertise Adam will bring as we continue building a more connected and globally diversified platform for OMERS members.”
