OMFED to expand into ice cream and packaged water in Odisha
Odisha’s dairy cooperative, OMFED, is planning to diversify its product portfolio by entering the ice cream and packaged drinking water markets. The proposal is currently under review by the OMFED board, and the rollout of these new products is contingent upon receiving necessary approvals.
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik stated that the expansion is part of a broader diversification strategy to increase the cooperative’s presence in the consumer goods market. Mallik emphasized that maintaining quality standards through a three-tier testing system remains a priority during this expansion.
Additionally, OMFED has recently increased milk procurement prices by Rs 2 to improve returns for local dairy farmers. This move is intended to support the livelihoods of milk producers while ensuring the continued supply of quality products to consumers.
