Omiš City Council rejects Brda-Umovi wind farm dispute
The Omiš City Council has rejected a proposal by the local Most party to initiate administrative disputes regarding the Brda-Umovi wind farm project. The proposal also sought to renew the environmental impact assessment for the site.
The wind farm project, led by the company DRI (a Dutch subsidiary of the Ukrainian DTEK Group), plans to install 27 turbines with a total capacity of 156.3 MW. Critics have raised concerns regarding the project's documentation, alleging that environmental studies erroneously included data from the Krka River, located 70 kilometers away, and failed to properly account for local wildlife habitats, including bat caves and protected species like wolves and bears.
During the vote, members of the HDZ and DP parties abstained, leading to the rejection of the motion.
