Omiš hosts return of historical Pirate Battle
The historical Pirate Battle of Omiš is set to return to the Adriatic coast on August 18. After a six-year hiatus caused by a 15 million euro renovation and expansion of the Omiš city harbor, the event will utilize the newly completed infrastructure as its primary stage.
The spectacle features a reenactment of a 13th-century battle in which local pirates defeated the Republic of Venice. Approximately 150 armed performers, including the KPU Omiški Gusari and various supporting knightly and historical units, will participate in sea battles involving cannon fire and sword fighting, followed by a procession through the town. The event is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors.
