Omiš receives state and regional aid following devastating fires

The Croatian Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy has introduced a support measure to preserve jobs in Omiš following recent fires. Implemented through the Croatian Employment Service, the aid provides up to 1,500 euros per month per worker to employers to cover wage costs for employees with indefinite contracts held prior to August 13, 2026. The measure primarily targets the tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as other businesses affected by the fire.

Applications can be submitted from August 27 to September 30, 2026. The program is expected to run through May 2027 to support the resumption of business activities.

In addition to state measures, regional solidarity is providing financial relief. Sisačko-moslavačka County donated 20,000 euros to the City of Omiš to assist in recovery efforts. This follows donations from over 20 cities and local communities, including Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik. Omiš Mayor Zvonko Močić reported that the city has received over one million euros in donations from individuals and organizations, alongside 20 million euros in direct state aid.
