Japan hosts community initiatives focused on wellness and social inclusion
Various regional initiatives in Japan are utilizing sports and wellness to foster social inclusion and community development.
In Saitama, Omiya International Secondary School is conducting an inquiry-based learning program focused on “symbiosis.” Students are engaging with blind running through practical experiences and dialogue. The program includes interactions with Akiko Shirahama, a Japanese representative for the 2026 Asia Para Games, and her guide runner, Genta Yui, to help students understand trust and support in para-sports.
In Ishikawa, Jiririta Co., Ltd. organized the “Noto Reconstruction Charity Futsal Tournament.” The event brought together 16 teams from six countries—Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam, China, and Zambia—to promote multicultural coexistence and support the recovery of the Noto region through donations to the Ishikawa Football Association.
In Kanagawa, Spic Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Kamakura International FC and Kamakura City, announced the second WELLNEXUS Kamakura 2027. This open innovation platform uses the city of Kamakura as a living demonstration field to test projects centered on sports and wellness, aiming to solve regional issues through themes of play, connection, and expansion.
