Omnigene and University of Malta develop liquid biopsy for cancer monitoring

Omnigene Medical Technologies Ltd and the University of Malta are developing M3Profiler, a liquid biopsy platform designed to monitor cancer evolution in real time. The technology analyzes tumor-derived exosomes—tiny vesicles released into the bloodstream—to create detailed molecular profiles from small blood samples.

By tracking how tumors change and respond to treatment, the platform aims to provide more sensitive, less invasive monitoring compared to traditional tissue biopsies or waiting for medical imaging. While currently undergoing clinical validation, the proof-of-concept suggests the technology could support more personalized care in precision oncology by addressing the challenge of tumor resistance.
