OMO7 Asahikawa hosts bonfire bar using upcycled timber
OMO7 Asahikawa, a Hoshino Resorts property, is hosting the ‘Asahikawa Machinaka Takibi Bar’ from September 1 to November 3, 2026. The event focuses on upcycling timber that is unsuitable for construction due to irregular shapes or insufficient strength.
In collaboration with waft Co., Ltd., the hotel has transformed birch and Japanese walnut trees—which would otherwise be processed into pulp or chips—into furniture and decorative elements. These materials are integrated with traditional Asahikawa furniture to create three distinct themed areas: a ‘Healing Area,’ a ‘Small Forest Area,’ and an ‘Outdoor Area,’ all centered around a bonfire experience.
The event also features local culinary offerings, including ‘Ezo Lish Coffee’ (a blend of coffee and Ezo whisky), Hokkaido wines, and finger foods. Additionally, a new workshop allows participants to create custom aroma sprays using distilled water from Nanakamado, the symbol tree of Asahikawa, which is typically discarded during pruning.
