Omoi Licenses Classic Shōjo Manga Sukeban Deka for English Release

Manga platform and publisher Omoi announced that it will publish Shinji Wada’s classic shōjo series Delinquent Detective: Sukeban Deka in English for the first time. The series, originally serialized in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine from 1975 to 1982, will be released exclusively as digital chapters on Omoi’s service beginning in the fall, available only to Omoi Premium subscribers. Co‑Founder and Marketing Director Evan Minto said the licensing deal was secured after years of building relationships with Japanese publishers, and noted the challenge of adapting a work whose author passed away and for which only older, non‑layered artwork exists. Omomi will present the series as a “battle shōjo” that blends delinquent‑action elements with traditional shōjo themes, aiming to reach new English‑speaking readers.
