Omonia gears up for Champions League qualifier against Universitatea Craiova

Cypriot club Omonia has completed its pre‑season training and will begin its Champions League qualifying campaign next week. Coach Henning Berg praised the squad’s cohesion after a friendly against Panaitolikos and highlighted the contributions of forward Andronikos Kakoullis, who scored twice, as well as other key players such as Evandro, Mouamer Tankovic and Mohamed Magiabel.

If Omonia overcome the obstacle posed by Kaïrat, they will face the winner of the Levski Sofia–Universitatea Craiova tie. The Romanian side Universitatea Craiova, the first Romanian club to reach the UEFA Cup semi‑finals in 1982‑83, was re‑established in 2013 after earlier dissolutions. The club has won five Romanian league titles and nine cups, is coached by Portuguese manager Filipe Coelho (contract until 2027), and features forward Stefan Baiaram, valued at €5 million. Their home ground is the 30,983‑seat Ion Oblemenco stadium in Craiova.
