Omonia grapples with injuries ahead of Europa League clash with Lincoln

Cypriot club Omonia has completed its preparations and will face English side Lincoln in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League in Gibraltar on 6 August (20:00). The match marks the start of Omonia’s campaign to reach the play‑off stage of the competition.

Coach Henrik Berg must cope with five absences – Andronikou, Koulimbalis, Nego, Ontubaj and Aiting – which severely limit his options, particularly on the right side of defence. The most likely line‑up keeps Simits at right‑back, with Balcoves and Panagiotou forming the central defensive pair and Christou on the left. An alternative arrangement would shift Simits to centre and Balcoves to the left, but it is considered a secondary option. Omonia aims to have a full squad for the return leg and the subsequent domestic cup match.
