Omoyele Sowore injured in alleged attack at Ekiti restaurant

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, was injured during an incident at Tawakalitu Restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Sowore alleges he was attacked by approximately 20 men armed with sticks and bottles in an attempt to intimidate him due to his presidential bid. He further claims the Ekiti State Government and the Department of State Services (DSS) facilitated the attack and that security agencies seized CCTV footage of the event to cover it up.

The Ekiti State Government has dismissed these allegations as unfounded, stating it has no involvement in the incident. The Ekiti State Police Command also denied reports that Sowore was kidnapped, describing the event as an altercation between Sowore and several individuals.

Following the incident, police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad conducted a raid on a hideout in the Atikankan area, arresting 11 suspects. Recovered items included mobile phones, walkie-talkies, international passports, and suspected illegal substances. Commissioner of Police Michael Falade has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter.
