Omoyele Sowore criticizes Rotimi Amaechi after NBA conference clash
Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has criticized former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi following a confrontation at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt.
Sowore claimed that Amaechi, who is the vice-presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), benefited from the democratic struggles Sowore led, stating that Amaechi would not have attained his political positions without such activism. Sowore noted that during the NBA debate, Amaechi told him to ‘close his mouth’ while other politicians were speaking.
Reflecting on the incident, Sowore revealed that Amaechi later offered him a beer, an invitation Sowore declined, noting he had asked for an apology instead. Sowore also defended his lack of elective office experience, arguing that his years of activism and commitment to good governance constitute a valid form of leadership necessary for the presidency.
