Omoyele Sowore discusses political ambitions and activism

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate, has addressed his long-standing career as an activist and his future political goals. In a recent discussion, Sowore reflected on his transition from student activism and founding SaharaReporters to entering presidential politics, noting that while his efforts have made a difference, the underlying oppressive political systems in Nigeria persist.

Sowore also engaged in a political dispute with APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru. The exchange followed Basiru’s dismissal of Sowore as a ‘comedian and skit maker’ after Sowore requested to launch a campaign at Aso Rock. Amidst these developments, Sowore’s name trended on the social media platform X in Nigeria.
