The Federal High Court in Abuja continued the cyberbullying trial of journalist and activist Omoyele Sowore, who was charged by the Department of State Services for describing President Bola Tinubu as a "criminal" on X and Facebook.

Deji Adeyanju, a human‑rights lawyer, testified as the defence's first witness and submitted a video of President Tinubu urging Nigerians to "criticise and even insult" him as part of democratic governance. The prosecution objected to Adeyanju’s dual role as counsel and witness, but the judge allowed the testimony.

Judge Mohammed Umar adjourned the case to 13 July 2026, upheld Sowore’s bail of N200 million with two sureties, and set a deadline for the defence to meet bail conditions after a brief delay caused by passport‑related travel.
