OMPT tourism journalism tour highlights Argentine heritage and market growth
The World Organization of Tourism Journalism (OMPT) is conducting an international fam press tour across Argentina, highlighting regional tourism and market trends. In Catamarca, international journalists explored cultural and heritage sites, including the Center for Applied Art and Technology (CATA), where they studied local biodiversity and the province's mining heritage, specifically the national stone, rhodochrosite.
The tour also featured traditional culinary experiences and visits to artisanal workshops, such as the local rug factory, to showcase ancestral craftsmanship.
In a related session at the 18th International Congress of Tourism Journalists in Jujuy, experts analyzed the significant growth in tourism between Argentina and the Dominican Republic. Data presented showed that Argentine tourist arrivals to the Dominican Republic increased by 138% since 2019, rising from 189,211 to 450,501. This growth has positioned Argentina as the third-largest market for tourists traveling to the Dominican Republic, driven by improved air connectivity and strategic communication.
