OMV shares reach new all-time high amid rising oil prices
OMV shares reached a new all-time high, briefly touching 66.10 euros during trading. The surge is primarily driven by rising crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical instability.
Rising tensions in the Middle East, specifically regarding the Iran conflict and the blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, have pushed Brent crude oil prices above 91 dollars per barrel. These supply concerns, alongside production bottlenecks in Russia, have significantly improved the earnings outlook for the integrated energy and chemical group.
Additionally, OMV is benefiting from the chemicals sector. Supply shortages in Asia have forced production slowdowns, driving up global prices for specialty chemicals. This trend is expected to bolster the company’s performance in the third quarter.
