On Farm Connectivity Program opens third round for farmers
The Australian federal government has opened the third round of the On Farm Connectivity Program, allowing farmers to apply for rebates on smart farming and ag-tech equipment until October 15.
Eligible producers can claim up to 50 per cent of the cost of equipment, with a maximum rebate of $20,000. Targeted technology includes soil moisture probes, livestock monitoring systems, weather monitors, liquid level monitors, and signal boosters to improve phone coverage.
In a shift following public consultation, first-time applicants will be prioritized over those who received funding in previous rounds. The first two rounds of the program distributed over $30.5 million to approximately 2,900 producers.
