On-us AI Challenge 2026 empowers students with real-world AI applications

The On-us AI Challenge 2026 has concluded, a week-long practical AI innovation program designed to empower young talent by applying artificial intelligence to real-world business scenarios. Approximately 30 secondary school students from five local Hong Kong schools participated in the challenge, focusing on the core theme of ‘co-creating new community interaction reward experiences.’

During the program, students worked in six teams to conduct user research and develop solutions using AI Agents, Design Thinking, and Model Context Protocol (MCP). The challenge culminated in a 48-hour prototype development phase where students transformed their ideas into Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

The event was supported by Cyberport, which provided venue and activity assistance, and received backing from the CPA Australia and the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Shun Lee Catholic Secondary School was awarded the ‘AI Innovation Champion’ prize for its ability to translate user insights into concrete product solutions. The initiative aligns with the Hong Kong government’s ‘AI for All’ advocacy, aiming to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional technological application.
