Onam festival celebrates Kerala harvest traditions and global connections

Onam, the traditional harvest festival of Kerala, is being celebrated over a ten-day period, reaching its peak on Thiruvonam. The festival commemorates the legendary homecoming of King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered for prosperity, equality, and happiness. Celebrations include decorating homes with colorful flower arrangements known as pookalams, preparing traditional Onam Sadhya feasts, and participating in cultural programs and traditional games.

In recognition of the festival, AU Small Finance Bank has launched its “Global Dreams. Indian at Heart.” campaign aimed at Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). The bank is offering enhanced FCNR deposit rates of 7.40% per annum for eligible three to four-year tenures, alongside zero forex margins and zero bank charges on non-resident remittances to support the financial needs of the global Malayali community.
