Onandjokwe Hospital receives N$4 million in medical equipment

The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has donated specialized medical equipment valued at approximately N$4 million to Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital in Namibia. The donation includes an advanced C-Arm mobile imaging system, an orthopaedic drill, and a saw, aimed at enhancing the facility's capacity for trauma and orthopaedic procedures.

During the official handover, Oshikoto regional health director Josua Nghipangelwa urged medical staff to utilize the new technology to treat trauma patients locally rather than transferring them to other providers. He noted that the equipment should enable the hospital to serve patients from surrounding areas, including Tsumeb, Omuthiya, Eenhana, Okongo, and Grootfontein.

Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital serves as a critical referral center for northern Namibia, managing an average of 91 orthopaedic cases per month, including fractures, dislocations, and complex trauma. MVA Fund board member Dr. Akutu Munyika stated that the investment aligns with Namibia’s national development goals to strengthen healthcare delivery and emergency trauma response.
