Onassis Foundation donates new lighting for Athens Acropolis area

The Municipality of Athens has received a new lighting installation for Dionysiou Areopagitou and Apostolou Pavlou streets, donated by the Onassis Foundation. The project features 125 modern lighting poles designed by Eleftheria Deco.

The design aims to integrate harmoniously with the monumental and natural landscape surrounding the Acropolis. The lighting uses a minimalist design and discreet colors to ensure that views of the historical monuments are not obstructed while enhancing the nighttime experience for citizens and visitors.

During the handover ceremony, Onassis Foundation President Antonis S. Papadimitriou emphasized the importance of cultural heritage and the foundation's ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Athens. Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni noted that this project completes a cycle of works in the broader Acropolis area, following the lighting of the Acropolis itself six years ago.
