Onassis Public Schools expand to 20 units across Greece

The Onassis Public Schools program is expanding from 12 to 20 educational units this year. The expansion includes the opening of eight new middle and high schools in Aegaleo, Rhodes, Heraklion, and Pyrgos.

Following a pilot year focused on student collaboration and exploration through specialized clubs and groups, the initiative is moving into a new phase. Supported by funding from the Onassis Foundation, the program has facilitated the upgrading of school infrastructure with high-quality materials and modern teaching tools.

Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki and Onassis Foundation President Antonis S. Papadimitriou recently visited Heraklion, Crete, to attend the inauguration of the 9th Daily Gymnasium and the 10th Daily General Lyceum of Heraklion. During the visit, officials met with students, parents, and educators to observe the renovated facilities.
