ONCF launches railway security and freight quality initiatives

The Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF) has launched a tender to develop a national video surveillance scheme aimed at integrating artificial intelligence and centralized supervision by 2030. The project, valued at approximately 1.08 million dirhams, focuses on defining the technical architecture and identifying needs rather than the immediate purchase of hardware.

This security initiative is part of a broader 96 billion dirham development program for the Moroccan railway network. This massive investment includes 53 billion dirhams for the high-speed line between Kenitra and Marrakech, 29 billion dirhams for rolling stock renewal, and 14 billion dirhams for the existing network.

Additionally, ONCF is implementing a triennial quality barometer for its freight and logistics division, scheduled for 2027–2029. This tool will measure client satisfaction across freight, phosphate transport, and logistics platforms to improve competitiveness following a period where rail freight exceeded 100 million tonnes in 2025.
