Brazilian retailers and Oncoclínicas pursue debt restructuring

Several major Brazilian companies are undergoing significant financial restructuring processes. Retailer Casas Bahia is negotiating a DIP (Debtor in Possession) loan of up to R$ 300 million to maintain operations while managing a R$ 17.3 billion debt following its judicial recovery filing.

Toy retailer Ri Happy has had its request for extrajudicial recovery processed by the São Paulo courts. The group, which includes PBKids, seeks to renegotiate R$ 827.4 million in debt. The court granted a 90-day period to secure creditor support and suspended debt executions for 180 days.

Oncoclínicas has approved a new extrajudicial recovery plan to reorganize approximately R$ 5.7 billion in unsecured debt. The plan includes debt-for-equity swaps, asset transfers, and the issuance of convertible debentures. While the plan has secured support from roughly 50% of creditors, including Oncoprod and Cedro Participações, it still requires further adherence to proceed to judicial ratification.
