Oncoclínicas seeks extrajudicial recovery to renegotiate R$5.1 bn debt

Oncoclínicas, one of Brazil's largest cancer‑treatment networks, filed a request for extrajudicial recovery on 14 April to renegotiate roughly R$5.1 billion of financial liabilities. The restructuring plan has secured the support of creditors representing about 37 % of the debt and gives the company 90 days to obtain the minimum backing required for court approval. The firm says daily operations, patient care and payments to suppliers will continue unchanged. The plan may involve a capital injection from shareholders, conversion of debt into equity and extension of payment terms. As part of the process, Oncoclínicas terminated two lease contracts in São Paulo (with an estimated R$76 million penalty) and Goiânia. The move follows the collapse in April of talks with Porto Seguro and Fleury to create a joint oncology venture backed by about R$500 million. Minority shareholders are also urging a R$6 billion takeover offer that would force U.S. fund Centaurus, which now holds more than 15 % of the company, to pay over R$16 per share. The financial strain stems from a 2025 loss of R$3.67 billion and leverage of 4.3 times EBITDA, breaching covenant limits.
