Rising cancer rates observed in adults aged 20 to 50
Medical experts and researchers are reporting a concerning rise in cancer diagnoses among adults aged 20 to 50. In India, oncologists note that over half of all cancer cases in women now occur in those under 50, with breast cancer frequently appearing in women under 40 and cervical cancer projected to increase significantly.
Data from the Spanish Cancer Registry indicates substantial annual increases in specific types for young populations: colon cancer has grown by over 21% annually in the 20-29 age group, while rectal cancer has risen by nearly 10%. Similar trends are observed in men, particularly regarding rectal and pancreatic cancers.
Health professionals attribute these trends to urban lifestyles, including physical inactivity, obesity, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Experts emphasize the importance of proactive screening—such as Pap smears, HPV tests, and mammograms—and lifestyle modifications, including regular exercise and a diet focused on whole foods, to mitigate risks.
