Oncorad Group performs first intracoronary lithotripsy in Casablanca

The Oceanic Clinic El Hana, part of the Oncorad Group, has announced the successful performance of the first intracoronary lithotripsy in Casablanca. The procedure was conducted by interventional cardiology specialist Dr. Karim Badaoui on a patient over 70 years old.

This minimally invasive technique uses shock waves delivered directly inside the artery to modify heavily calcified plaques. Such calcium deposits often complicate standard interventions, such as artery dilation or stent placement. By breaking down these deposits, the procedure prepares the vessel for more effective treatment.

The successful operation marks a significant step in the expansion of interventional cardiology services at Oceanic Clinic El Hana. Originally specialized in oncology, the Oncorad Group has been diversifying its medical offerings to include specialties such as robotic surgery, medical imaging, and nuclear medicine.
