Ondo Finance faces leadership battle following founder's death
Ondo Finance is embroiled in a legal battle over corporate control following the death of its founder, Nathan Allman, in May. Kathleen Allman, the founder's mother and representative of his estate, has filed three lawsuits in the Delaware Court of Chancery seeking to remove CEO Ian De Bode.
The estate argues that Allman's controlling voting interest passed to his estate during probate and that De Bode consolidated power without proper board approval. Kathleen Allman has moved to expand the board, install herself as interim CEO and chair, and seeks to prevent current management from making major corporate decisions or moving large sums of money until ownership is settled.
De Bode disputes these claims, describing them as "meritless" and stating that his transition to CEO was necessary to maintain operations after Allman's death left the company without an active board. He maintains he has the support of major investors and the Ondo Foundation.
This leadership uncertainty has coincided with market volatility for the ONDO token and the recent launch of Ondo Perps, a perpetual futures platform that has reached over $7 billion in cumulative trading volume.
