Ondo Finance launches tokenized stocks as collateral for futures trading
Ondo Finance has made tokenized stocks and exchange‑traded funds (ETFs) available as collateral on its Ondo Perps platform for all users outside restricted jurisdictions. Traders can now use tokenized assets such as SPY and QQQ to provide leverage for futures contracts on equities, indices and commodities, keeping spot and perpetual positions in the same wallet and eliminating the need for separate brokerages.
The new structure combines the hedge and collateral functions into a single on‑chain pool, which the firm says can halve capital requirements for market makers. Lower capital costs are expected to boost market‑maker returns and narrow spreads, potentially bringing on‑chain perpetuals closer to traditional derivatives venues. Tokenized stocks on the platform reached more than $1 billion in total value locked within eight months of launch, signalling growing institutional interest in real‑world asset tokenization.
