Ondo State government urges police to follow protocol in FID operations

The Ondo State Government has formally expressed concern over recent operations carried out by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in parts of the state. In a statement signed by Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, the government acknowledged the constitutional duty of security agencies to investigate crimes but warned that the commando‑style exercises have caused anxiety among residents and disrupted the state's traditionally peaceful atmosphere.

The statement called on Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu to ensure that specialised police units operate in accordance with established procedures, maintain public safety, and communicate with state authorities whenever actionable intelligence is available. While reaffirming support for legitimate security actions, the government stressed that operations must be professional, responsible, and respect due process to build public confidence rather than fear.
