Benue and Ondo Governors announce major administrative appointments

In Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia has sworn in seven new cabinet commissioners and several statutory board appointees to accelerate the administration’s development agenda. The appointments, which were cleared by the Benue State House of Assembly, include new leadership for the Benue State Television (BTV) Board and the Benue State Assembly Service Commission. During the ceremony, Governor Alia emphasized that appointments are performance-driven and urged officials to prioritize public interest over personal or special interest groups. He also addressed public concerns regarding the national ranching policy, stating that no federal mandate would be forced upon the state without consent.

Separately, in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved a significant expansion of his administration by appointing one commissioner, three special advisers, and 1,003 political aides. The new appointments, which include 90 senior special assistants and 910 special assistants, are intended to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery across the state. Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba has been nominated as the Commissioner for Special Duties, pending screening by the state house of assembly.
