Ondo State Police arrest man for allegedly killing mother with machete

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Samuel Akoade for the alleged machete attack and killing of his mother, Olufunke Akoade, in Ore, the headquarters of the Odigbo Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in the Powerline area. According to Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh, the victim was discovered at her residence with deep machete wounds. Following the report, officers from the Ore Division secured the scene and recovered the suspected weapon.

Although the suspect initially fled the scene, police operatives subsequently apprehended Akoade and placed him in custody. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation under the direction of Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu.
