Ondo State Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers on Akure‑Owo Expressway

Police operatives from the Federal Highway Patrol Unit responded to a distress call at the Olaiya Block Industry in Ilu‑Abo, Ondo State, after masked gunmen demanded to see the owner. A gun battle ensued, and two suspected kidnappers were killed while the remaining gang members fled into nearby bush with gunshot wounds.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, said the police recovered a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, four mobile phones, several face masks and two ATM cards believed to belong to the suspects or their victims. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Akure and the case transferred to the Anti‑Kidnapping Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The command urged residents, especially healthcare providers, to promptly report anyone presenting with suspicious gunshot injuries.
