Ondo State stakeholders protest Lagos-Calabar Highway diversion

Stakeholders and legal representatives in Ondo State have raised concerns regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, alleging that the Federal Ministry of Works has diverted the route away from coastal communities in the Ilaje Local Government Area.

Critics argue that shifting the highway inland excludes vital maritime hubs from the economic benefits of the infrastructure project. Because the Ilaje area relies heavily on fishing and sea-based commerce, community leaders claim the current alignment fails to address their geographical needs and could lead to reduced land value and diminished accessibility for local residents.
