Ondo token surges as SEC moves to approve tokenized equities

Ondo Finance’s ONDO cryptocurrency rallied sharply after reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing a framework to allow tokenized stocks on decentralized platforms. In the Netherlands, the token rose about 15 % in one day, while later reports of the SEC’s pending approval triggered a jump of roughly 49 % and pushed the price to around $0.38.

Ondo now controls close to 70 % of the tokenized equity market, with more than 260 live assets and cumulative trading volume exceeding $18 billion. The platform has attracted major financial partners such as Mastercard, BlackRock, JP Morgan and Fidelity, and aims to tokenize $5 billion of assets by year‑end. The SEC’s innovation exemption could further expand the market for digital shares, which currently total about $3.5 billion.

The price surge follows broader market pressure on Bitcoin, which has slipped below $77,000, highlighting investor focus on assets that may benefit from clearer regulatory treatment.
