Ondokuz Mayıs University begins 800-bed hospital project

Work has commenced on a new 800-bed hospital project for Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) in Samsun, Turkey. Included in the 2026 Investment Program, the project is being developed under the Turkey University Hospitals Resilience Project (TURHAP).

Representatives from the World Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change recently visited the site to conduct inspections. Led by OMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, the delegation evaluated the technical specifications, financing processes, and design stages of the facility.

The planned health complex will cover approximately 140,000 square meters of closed area. A primary objective of the project is to ensure the facility is highly resilient against earthquakes, natural disasters, and the impacts of climate change, such as extreme heat.
