Ondokuz Mayıs University launches Lifelong Learning University in Samsun

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) and Samsun Metropolitan Municipality have launched the Lifelong Learning University (YBÜ) in Samsun, Turkey. Based on the “Third Age University” model, the initiative is designed to integrate individuals aged 55 to 75 into campus life.

The program aims to support the physical, mental, and social well-being of participants through various educational tracks. A key component of the project is fostering intergenerational knowledge transfer, as senior students will engage in collaborative learning activities with younger OMÜ students.

Following a recent opening ceremony, 30 students have been selected for the inaugural term. Lessons for the 2026-2027 autumn semester are scheduled to begin on October 13.
