Ondokuz Mayıs University opens new dentistry simulation laboratory
Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) has opened a renovated Preclinical Phantom Laboratory within its Faculty of Dentistry. The facility is designed to allow up to 86 students to work simultaneously using modern simulation equipment, providing a realistic environment for practical training before they begin working with actual patients.
Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Kaan Gündüz noted that the laboratory, which was originally established in 2017, has been completely modernized to meet contemporary educational needs. OMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın highlighted that the simulation technology allows instructors to monitor student performance via screens and provide immediate feedback.
Looking forward, the university plans to launch an artificial intelligence-supported simulation center and is working on a Micro CT device project supported by Scientific Research Projects (BAP).
