Ondokuz Mayıs University ranks 13th in Turkish university sports

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) has achieved a significant rise in university sports, ranking 13th out of 167 universities in the 2025-2026 Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) competitions. The university's athletes secured a total of 38 medals, consisting of 12 gold, 8 silver, and 18 bronze. This performance marks a steady upward trend from the 2023-2024 season, where the institution ranked 66th with 10 medals.

Beyond national competitions, OMÜ students achieved success on the international stage. Yasin Can became a world champion in Muay Thai, and the university's Taekwondo team earned four medals—one gold, two silver, and one bronze—at the European University Combat Sports Championship held in Tirana, Albania.

University officials attributed these successes to the institutional support provided by Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and the organizational efforts of the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports.
