Ondokuz Mayıs University targeted for Research University status

Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), visited the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) stand during TEKNOFEST to discuss the institution's scientific projects and future goals. During a meeting with OMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Özvar highlighted the university's strong capacity in the field of health.

Özvar expressed a desire to see OMÜ join the league of Research Universities, noting that the university has the potential to transition from candidate status to full Research University status. He emphasized that this transition depends on the performance of faculty, staff, and students. He added that strengthening health-focused capacities with supporting disciplines, such as engineering, would be key to this advancement.

Özvar also noted the importance of competition between universities to drive production, performance, and contribution to the country's economic development.
